I know we're all BUSY with the holidays and the ending of another year... But I couldn't let this week pass without making mention that Eric Straddeck only has one more City Council Meeting!
.
The last City Council meeting for 2011 is going to be this Thursday the 15th of December. The work meeting starts at 6PM and the regular meeting starts at 7PM. Please be there if you can...
I want to take a moment and pay tribute to the end of an era in Heber City politics. Councilman Eric Straddeck has served all of us in a capacity we can never fully thank him for. He has fought the good fight and though we may not agree with everything he did, one thing is for sure... He did it.
MAKE EVERYDAY LIKE FRIDAY AND EVERY FRIDAY LIKE CHRISTMAS!

MAKE EVERYDAY LIKE FRIDAY AND EVERY FRIDAY LIKE CHRISTMAS!
In the words of Theodore Roosevelt in a statement title TO MEN WHO KNOW:
- "The credit belongs to the man who's actually in the arena, who's face is marred by dust and sweat and blood... Who knows the great devotions and who spends himself in a worth cause. Who at the end, at best, knows the triumph of high achievement and at worst fails while daring greatly... So that his place will never be with those cold timid souls who know neither victory or defeat."
Mr. Straddeck, a grateful city is in your debt for your sacrifice, for your honest efforts and for your willingness to step into the arena. You have paved the way for others to follow in your footsteps and you need to know your contribution has not been in vain.

Eric has "walked-his-talk" and has set an example for all of us on how we should behave in the face of public scrutiny and when forces conspire to dis-credit, defame and discourage.
I'm a better person for knowing Eric and I'm glad he considers me his friend.
Here's your chance to leave a message for Councilman Eric and let him know you appreciate what he has accomplished in our behalf over the past 4-years.

What a ride its been for you and your family Eric! I know what kind of a sacrifice that kind of a job is and I am VERY greatful you were willing! Our city really is a better place because of the things you have accomplished. And your sweet wife deserves thanks as well. Its always a team effort with these types of things. I'm glad you have such great support at home. And I know Glinda is excited to have you back! Really though, its never easy in any type of political position, everyone has differing opinions and you have to find a way to do what you think is right, and ruffle the least amount of feathers along the way. You've done amazing! I commend you for your integrity, your ambition, and your consistency. Its been refreshing to know we had someone like you looking after this great city that I love so much! So...a big thank you from us!
