Hangers at the AIRPORT were discussed. Low lease rates is making it difficult to sell the hangers because it was so much more economical for someone to lease over buy.
So if the city council wants the hangers sold as originally planned, then the lease rates need to be increased to promote the benefit of future buyers to purchase.
It was discussed to raise the lease rates and lower the sales price to accomplish the objective of getting the hangers sold. It is then agreed to put this topic on the next agenda a month later. I will follow-up with what happens...
Later that night Mayor discussed increasing travel allowance, car allowance and insurance so the council members and the mayor could increase their compensation without having to have a public hearing.
Mergist and Rowland wanted greater accountability by actually re-structuring their pay into one package thus requiring a public hearing for any and all increases and as result, making the process completely transparent.
The council moved forward to add a salary increase of $250 per month to the public hearing agenda already scheduled for August 16th.
And they agreed to vote on increase of $150 per month for travel and insurance which would not need to be on any public hearing agenda but it was included.
I find it funny that any elect official is apprehensive to let the public know when their compensation has needs to be increased.
I also find it interested that the Mayor would even bring this increase up after the budget had already been approved. What was the purpose for the after thought and who agreed with this kind of "after-the-fact" tactic?
